The award-winning star is a proud father of two children. One thrives in the spotlight, while the other, who was named after him, reportedly leads a quieter life.

Johnny Depp shares daughter Lily-Rose and son Jack Depp with his former longtime partner, singer-actress Vanessa Paradis. While the duo’s eldest child has followed in her parents’ footsteps, their youngest reportedly prefers to stay out of the spotlight.

Johnny and Vanessa’s bond may have shifted, but their commitment to co-parenting remained unwavering. During their time together, the pair welcomed Lily-Rose in May 1999 and Jack in April 2002.

In a June 2013 interview, Johnny was asked if the breakup brought any strange adjustments. He explained, “The strangest thing in terms of adjustment is just making sure that everybody is okay. That’s really everything. You make sure first that your kids are okay, and that they understand that it’s normal.”

The actor added that there is no reason for either parent to harbor resentment or animosity. In the following month, he opened up about how his children handled the separation, noting that he and Vanessa were honest with them about the situation.

“They were incredibly understanding, incredibly accepting. I was extremely proud of them, you know, the way they dealt with it,” said the celebrity.

Reflecting on their split in a 2014 interview, Johnny divulged how they maintained a harmonious dynamic for the sake of their children. “Vanessa and I get along wonderfully. There’s no weirdness at all, no hostility,” he said. The musician acknowledged that life takes its course, reminisced about their 14 years together, and expressed pride in the children they raised.

He described their ongoing relationship as amicable, crediting Vanessa’s kindness and praising her as a great mother, with nothing negative to say about her.

In addition, the movie star talked fondly about their children, “My kids—I am more and more proud [of them]. Because having lived alongside me in their formative years—most parents’ jobs don’t require that kind of weirdness.” He then praised them for being smart, polite, and caring.

Speaking about Jack — whom he refused to teach to drive at 15 due to his recklessness — the actor revealed, “My boy Jack has always been a very talented draftsman. He draws really super-well. He also plays music very well. He’s got a good feel for that. […] He hasn’t shown any desire to become an actor. Whew!”

Moreover, his ex shared a similar sentiment about protecting their children’s privacy. In a separate interview, Vanessa explained her efforts to shield them from the public eye.

“Now I indeed keep them away from the cameras because I don’t want our children to be forced to share in our fame against their will,” she said. The mother of two noted that her kids hadn’t chosen fame, at least not yet, adding that if they decided to step into the spotlight, she wouldn’t stop them.

Vanessa and Johnny’s first born, Lily-Rose, ultimately pursued a career in acting and currently stars in the hit horror film “Nosferatu.” In a recent interview, she shared how her role in the film earned her some “cool points” with Jack.

Reflecting on their childhood, Lily-Rose, 25, mentioned that she and her little brother were both fascinated with “Dracula” when they were younger, with Jack often dressing up as the iconic vampire for school.

The model further explained that landing this role felt special, as it finally made her seem “cool” in her brother’s eyes. Now that they’re older, she admitted that while she thinks Jack is the cool one and often tries to spend time with him, he’s usually busy.

Nonetheless, the public figure felt her performance in “Nosferatu” helped bridge that gap and earned her some sibling approval.

While Lily-Rose has embraced the spotlight, Jack, now 22, has chosen a different path. Though he made a brief appearance in the 2016 horror-comedy “Yoga Hosers” alongside his sister and their father, he prefers a more private life.

Recent reports reveal Jack has quietly been working at a trendy Parisian restaurant. He spent time at L’Area, a Lebanese eatery in the Bastille district known for its mosaic floors, exposed rafters, and popularity among fashion, music, and film industry insiders.

Named after his father and grandfather, Jack took shifts behind the bar and helped out in the downstairs kitchen, known for preparing an impressive mixed mezze. Photos and videos on the restaurant’s social media even show his sister visiting to mix cocktails behind the bar.

Though Jack left his role after two years, the restaurant’s owner, Edouard Chueke, expects him to return next year. Chueke described him as a great employee who values his privacy and noted that Vanessa and Lily-Rose are frequent visitors. He added, “Good staff are hard to find.”
